So, I’m late to the Birchbox party, but I’m definitely glad I came. I just received my first box a few days ago, and what a fun experience. It arrived in a cute little pink and white cardboard box and just kept screaming at me, “Open me! Open me!” It was quite persistent, so I put everything else on hold, grabbed my trusty camera and commenced with the “unboxing.”

The cardboard box it ships in is pretty cute itself, but then…it kind of opens up like this little cardboard flower (no joke) and inside is a much prettier box. This one is quite cute, with a beachy colored triangle theme and some gold metallic. Who doesn’t love a bit of gold!

I opened up the box, and inside were six little beauty samples staring up at me and a cute little info card that read like a product resume. I hope these little beauties live up to their bios.

I shall stick to the given resume and list them in order:

Sample 1: First, we have Coastal Scents styleEYES Eyeshadow Palette – socialEyes

How pretty are these two? I don’t have a silver shadow quite like this one and I had to try it out right away. I plan to do a full review of these products in a few days after I’ve had more time to test them, but I will say, I love these two sample shadows. They are very pigmented, smooth and bendable. Smokey eye here we come! (Can I get an amen for date night?)

Sample 2: Next, we have the Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot perfume sample

I know not everyone loves perfume samples, but I do. My husband loves to buy me perfume, it’s just kind of his thing. (I’m not complaining) So, I enjoy trying lots of scents and telling him which ones I like and see what his picks are. This scent didn’t get me too excited, but if you love your scent sweet, this is for you. It kind of reminds me of toasted marshmallow.

Sample 3: JUARA Radiance Enzyme Scrub

This scrub smells very tropical and is one of those smells that just relaxes me, which is a plus. I love any kind of exfoliant/pore purifier, so I’m excited to try this one. I will give you my verdict soon!

Sample 4: Number 4 Clarifying Shampoo

This little sample is just too cute. I have a thing for elephants, so this packaging makes me happy. I have naturally curly hair and I love to wear it curly, wavy and straight. I do use a lot of product to keep my hair healthy and shiny, so all natural clarifying shampoos are perfect for me to get rid of the build up.

The bottle says that this shampoo is highly concentrated and only takes a small amount. This means this sample should last for a multiple washes, even with my long hair. Score!

Sample 5: Number 4 Reconstructing Hair Masque (foil)

This is a foil sample from the same company as the shampoo (number 4), so I’m guessing that’s why it’s called a bonus. Again, some people don’t like foils, but I’m excited to try this because I like the ingredients and my hair can always use extra moisture and protein.

Sample 6: theBalm cosmetics Stainiac – Beauty Queen

Oh I see you Birchbox. You saved the best for last. I am a sucker for lip products and this one does not disappoint. I tried this product right away and loved it. I will give the full review on it soon, but it’s perfect for “almost no” makeup days. You know the days where you don’t want to wear much, but you still want to look a fresh and awake, with just a touch of color? If you have those days, this is your product. Such a pretty, very light stain on the lips and cheeks. Really good!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I’m so excited that I joined the Birchbox crew. I don’t know what I enjoy more the products or the whole experience, but either way, for just $10 a month, I’m sold.

I also want to mention that Birchbox also has an online store where you can purchase the full size of any of the samples that were in your box. They also have an awesome point and rewards system. If you love to review (like I do) you can review all of your samples on their site and earn 50 points which =$5 dollars towards more products. Do you deal lovers know what this means? It means all my reviewing friends are really only spending $5 on their box instead of $10. This is a sweet deal! If you’re late to the Birch party and want to sign up just click the link below. And, if you decide to buy some other products while you’re there use this code TAKEOFF20 for 20% off your purchase of $35 or more.

  1. Hey Leah, this is Talia from the BlogHive group! I’ve been very on the fence about subscribing to Birchbox for a while but I think I’m going to test it out. What was your favorite product in the box? Thanks for writing this post!

  2. Welcome Talia! My favorite is the Stainiac for sure. It goes on almost like water, and it leaves this super natural stain on your lips and cheeks that doesn’t look like makeup at all. It just looks like natural rosy lips and cheeks. I just love it. It’s such a unique product! Talia, if you decide to sign up for Birchbox, I’d love for you to use my link! Oh and don’t forget to review your products too because you will get $5 worth of points to spend on makeup at Birchbox. Such a plus!
