Hello Pettigrew Crew!
April was a beautiful spring month here in Cali. I enjoyed the rain it brought along with this pretty little box of lovelies from Boxycharm.
I compare things by nature. {A good quality to have as a reviewer I think} So, upon arrival, I immediately started to compare April’s box with the March box {my first Boxycharm experience} and at first glance I gave the win to March’s box hands down…but upon using and testing the products, it was a tighter race than I had first assumed.
Since the box had a rainy day theme, I had a little fun with water in the photos!
Let’s Unbox:April’s Boxycharm box had 5 full sized beauty products; two lip products, a hand cream, a shadow and a mascara. I love lip products, so this was a plus for me. All of the packaging was minimalist and straight forward, and the products themselves kind of reminded me of a cloudy day. There wasn’t much color and the overall first impression was very subdued.
I think this added to my assuming that the March box was my fav immediately, because the March box was more of a fiesta, full of candy themes and pink. It jumped out at me with fun from the moment I opened it. I would have to say this box was more of a “sleeper” hit with me, but as I began to dive into the products and use them, I realized what superstars some of them were.As you can see from their product menu, the total value of the products is over $100, which is pretty awesome for a $21 box!
First up is the Pur~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher.
I love unique products. So many cosmetics can feel and look the same as the many others like them. I get excited when a product stands out from the crowd.
This lip nourisher is petroleum free. This means the texture and consistency is very different than a normal lip balm. It goes on wet and almost looks like a clear lip gloss, but there is no stickiness at all. Like none! It’s smooth and light, and I just love how my lips look with this product on them. I feel like it somehow brings out the natural color in my lips in a really simple, but great way.
Because this product is so sheer, I expected it to wear off quickly and need a lot of re-application to keep my lips hydrated, but I was wrong. Surprisingly, the Pur~lisse keeps my lips smooth and moisturized for several hours.
This product is a major winner for me!
Next, we have the blinc Black Lash Primer.
This product is a lash primer, something I had never tried. I was curious, because like I mentioned above, I get excited over new types of beauty products I’ve not used.
You are supposed to put this on as a sort of base for your mascara. It gives your mascara a true black finish and adds volume. Blinc also says their formula encourages new lash growth for longer and fuller lashes, and we all know that’s never a bad thing.
I was seriously amazed at how black and thick my lashes looked after one application. I looked like I was wearing falsies. The first couple of times I wore this primer I didn’t even add any mascara to it, because I didn’t need to. Then, when I did add mascara I added my L’Oreal Telescopic Lengthening mascara and WOWZA, hot mama lashes for sure.
This might just win my new fav product award! This is the Anderson Lilley Manhattan Beach Butter Hand Cream.
Oh my word, this smells great. It’s like the beach in a bottle. It’s so refreshing and summery and gives good vibes.
This hand cream isn’t overly oily, but it is nice and creamy. I have been using this hand cream every day since I opened it, and it leaves my rather dry hands hydrated and soft. It’s kind of my partner in crime. I always keep it close by. {Sometimes just to take a quick whiff}This little cutie is the yourMinerals Sweden in the shade Brown Hypnotic.
Although the name says brown, it definitely has a plum tint to it. It’s also very metallic and can be almost iridescent in the bright light. I would suggest using an eyelid primer and perhaps misting your brush with a bit of setting spray to get the bold color you see in the canister.
This is a nice complement to a smokey eye or you can use a bit in the crease to deepen a natural eye look.Last, we have the Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Honolulu
I was intrigued and excited when I saw this shade because I don’t have a similar shade. I was a bit bummed when I put it on, and it looked a lot darker than it did in the tube. Even when I tried to apply the lightest coat it was a bit purple-y goth looking on me. {A dark/goth look can be really chic done right, but it’s not my cup o’ tea)
Then I discovered a new beauty hack for dark lipstick {which I will share in a separate post} and I’m diggin’ the lippie now. The formula is bit drying, very few matte lipsticks aren’t, but I didn’t get any flakiness or chapped lips. I also, recommend using the Daily Lip Nourisher before application. They are great little beauty BFFs for keeping you matte lips hydrated. For those of you who love to see the products in action, here’s one of the cutest little beauty vloggers on Youtube giving a short little unboxing the April Boxycharm box. {seriously, she’s so fun to watch} Enjoy!

FINAL THOUGHTS
Upon first opening the April Boxycharm box, I didn’t think I was going to love this box as much as I have. My three standouts for sure are the Blink lash primer, the Pur~lisse lip nourisher and the Anderson Lilley beach butter hand cream. I have used these a ton and really adore them. The Ofra matte lipstick and the Yourminerals eye shadow were good too, but took a little tweaking to get them to work for me. They are products that I will use on occasion.
Boxycharm continues to be a winning box for me, and I’m so glad I signed up. I love the value and the full-sized products really set this box apart.

I’ve tried the blink mascara but never the primer! This was such a great box for you!

The primer by itself is better than a lot of mascaras I’ve tried. I did love this box!
I got the same shade in the Ofra lipstick as you in this box. I was really excited, but it looked VERY dark upon application like you said. I enjoy wearing dark lipsticks, but this one looked almost black on my lips. I’m looking forward to reading about your beauty back to make it more useable! xx
Hi Heather. I will try and post that beauty hack this week.
I have never tried this sub yet but it looks like April’s box was a good one! That hand cream sounds right up my alley.
Both of the boxes I’ve received have been fabulous. I’m lovin’ this box.
I love anything to do with lashes, definitely need to try that primer!

Thanks Lauren! It’s such a great product. It makes my lashes thick and full. No clumps. I wear it all of the time by itself!
