Hi Pettigrew Crew,
As a Beauty Enthusiast for Club Red, Redbook magazine sent me their complementary spring Redbook Red Box: Beauty Edition. You know by now that I’m a beauty box junkie, so this was a fun and welcome surprise! Oh, and did I mention that two of the samples were full sized? Yes please.
What’s in the Red Box?
This cute little red number showed up in my mail box. There is something about a red box that just makes me want to open it right away. Excitement!
This pretty card stock was waiting for me inside. I love glossy pics of makeup don’t you? The brands of the samples {partners of Redbook} were L’Oreal, Olay and Revlon. All brands I enjoy, so this got me pumped. I like an info card with fun little blurbs about the products I’m about to bust into. This was really well done of course, it’s Redbook.
First up were these 3 lovely skincare foils from L’Oreal. {a brand I know and love} Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Eye Balm, Facial Oil with Sunscreen and Golden Balm Moisturizer.
These skin care products are formulated for dry skin and are extremely hydrating. They are also wonderful for maturing skin. I am in my 30’s and I have slightly dry skin. I am all about treating fine lines and preventing wrinkles, so I was very excited to try these products.
I really loved the golden balm moisturizer and eye balm and for me, a little went a very long way. Both have very thick and creamy formulas and did wonders to moisturize my skin. Plus they smelled nice too.
The facial oil was a tad bit heavy for my skin and is not something that I would use every day, but at my age, I think it is a product I would only need once in a while to give a little boost of moisture when I needed it. I would really recommend this product for women with more mature and dryer skin to use more regularly perhaps.
Next up is the Ultra Moisture Body Wash from Olay
Can I just say this stuff is bomb! If you didn’t read the label, you would think this was lotion. It’s so creamy and smells lovely. It has shea butter and is a soap-free formula. I love that it’s full of moisturizers and it does great things for my skin.
It leaves my skin soft and glowing and I don’t have to use lotion after the shower. I’m a big fan of this product!
This Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor from Revlon {full size} in the shade HD Addiction is one of the pretties colors ever!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the tube, because lipstick looks so different on then it does in the tube. I was so happy with the shade on my lips. It looks like a deep rose color on me and it is just so bright and pretty, but it’s more subtle than my hot pink shades and is a great everyday shade. I just adore it.
As for the formula, it is very pigmented and goes on really well. Also, it’s not as drying as a lot of the other drugstore brand matte lipsticks that I’ve tried. So good!
Last in the line-up is Revlon’s Ultimate All-in-One Mascara {full size}
I was so excited for this one because I currently use two mascara’s when I’m going out or have a special event. I usually use one coat of volumizing mascara followed by a second coat of lengthening mascara. {Great little makeup hack! I recommend it} I was hoping I could do away with the need for two mascaras with this all-in-one, but maybe not quite.
I do think this is a great mascara for every day use. It excels at separating my lashes and making them look dark and pretty, but I didn’t notice a big difference in length or volume. There are other Revlon mascara’s that I think do a better job for both of these categories. I do love the little brush and it’s ability to get very close to the base of my lashes and apply very precisely. No clumping at all. It’s a very pretty and natural look. {Great for the no makeup, makeup look}
Final Thoughts
Thanks to Redbook for sending me this lovely Red Box: Beauty Edition. So many great products. My two standouts were the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in HD Addiction. {I am seriously “addicted” to this shade} and the Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash {My skin thanks you}. They’re in my new favs category for sure. I also liked how hydrated the L’Oreal skincare products left my skin and how pretty and natural the Revlon Ultimate All-in-One left my lashes.
I’m happy to be a Beauty Enthusiast for Redbook and enjoy these great beauty perks!

Box Buzz Question: What were your favorites in this Red Box?
What a fun box to receive! That Olay body wash sounds like something I would like too. I also like that the mascara doesn’t clump. Thanks for the review.
It was so fun! Yes, I can’t stand clumpy mascara!
Absolutely love the Revlon Matte Colors. I have that same color and a deep red one.
I want to get some more now! They’re awesome.
Wonderful post! Thanks for the reviews. Love your gorgeous photography as well x
Thanks so much Krysti! That’s so encouraging.
I’m so excited to see this! I was looking at trying a box and this one looks fun.
Glad you like the box, but sadly it’s not a subscription box yet. I received this for being on their beauty panel. I hope they start a box soon though. There are a lot of other great boxes out there though.
Oh shoot. Either way it’s really cool!
Definitely love the review and it’s funny how magazines such as RedBook and Essence are all coming out with their own beauty box subscriptions. Great read.
I hope all the mags do one. Then we have so many more to choose from and I’m kind of addicted. This isn’t a subscription box yet. We will see.
The revlon lip color looks really pretty. I love beauty box subscriptions. 🙈🙈🙈
It’s one of my fav lip colors in a long time. Seriously!
I’ve been meaning to try the Revlon Matte Lipcolours for ages, so nice to hear that it’s worth the hype! Will definitely give them a go now 🙂
