Hello Pettigrew Crew!

My April Target Beauty Box arrived sooner than expected and I’m so stoked to share my  unboxing with you. This is my first Target Beauty Box, and I can’t believe I received all of these full and deluxe sized samples for $7. (free shipping) I feel like I robbed Target blind. Let’s jump
right in.

The box is sturdy, simplistic and kind of chic and I must say, “I see you Target trying to step up your beauty game!” The theme this month is Hello Sunshine, which is very appropriate for Spring. If you’re glad to leave Winter behind and jump into warm weather and outdoor adventures, than this box will get you in the mood. Plus I love yellow, so props from Miss Pettigrew.

I can hear you now, “Enough with the box, let’s get to the goodies.” I’m a sucker for the details, but yes let’s move on. Here’s what greeted me under the lid.

The box contains 1 full sized product, 6 deluxe/travel sized products and 1 foil. The products are diverse with makeup, hair, and skin care all represented. (I would have preferred another makeup item, but that’s just me being picky)

Here’s a better shot of all of the beauty products laid out in all of their beauty glory. What a fun assortment for only $7 right? I mean, this is quite the sample haul.

Now, let’s go down the line and take a look at the products one by one.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes 7 ct (full size is 25 ct)

I really like these wipes a lot. They have pure ingredients that are gentle on my skin, but they are tough little soldiers that can get rid of the toughest make up foe. (I’m looking at you waterproof mascara) They have no scent and they are fairly soft on the skin, (I’ve used softer) but they get the job done and give my skin a little glow.

Laneige Water Bank Soothing Gel Single Mask (full size is 5 masks)

So, I have to be honest. I haven’t tried this mask yet. I have always used cream masks that dry hard and wash off, but this will be my first encounter with a sheet mask. I thought I would save this mask and do a separate post on my step by step experience. Plus, sheet masks always make fun pictures.

I will say that I’m pumped to try this mask, because I’ve heard great things about it and it’s supposed to be super hydrating and cooling for your skin. Sounds like a great mask to do before bedtime! (For those of the Crew who have used the mask before, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.)

Marlowe. No. 022 Body Butter 1 oz (full size 8 oz)

My hands can get pretty dry, so I can be pretty picky when it comes to lotions/butters. I need them to be super moisturizing and long lasting. This Marlowe body butter passes my strict test. It’s intense and really wows me. I also love the natural and interesting ingredients (like passionflower fruit, green tea & deep sea algae extracts) in this product. And, it doesn’t hurt that the smell is fresh and relaxing.

CeraVe Healing Ointment in lip balm sized container (full size 12 oz)

I have actually already had a sample of the CeraVe healing ointment and I just got another sample in a different box. So, it’s safe to say I’m stocked up for a while. It looks and feels like petroleum jelly, which is a feature that has given this ointment a bad rap with some people, but it has ceramides in it that protect and soothe dry, cracked and chafed skin.

I actually have been using this ointment as a lip balm for my chapped lips and I have notice a big improvement in the texture and softness of my lips. Plus this stuff isn’t too oily or sticky, which is important on lips.

Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation foil (full size 1 oz)

I could have lived without this foil in the box. It’s definitely not my shade and I’m not too interested in foundation foils, but if you happen to receive your correct shade, there is enough product to put a light, single coat on your face to test out the foundation.

I decided to test the Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation on my skin for the sake of this unboxing and I do have to point out that it was velvety soft and did blend very nicely into my skin. It was light coverage with the single application, but it seems like you could easily build up the coverage with more coats if desired.

COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipstick full size (Yeah! Who doesn’t love a full sized lippie?)

The feel of this new Covergirl lipstick is amazing. I’ve been rocking a lot of matte lately and this hydrating lipstick is a welcome change. Instead of drying out my lips and making them look like a pair of dried mud cakes, this formula has Shea butter in it and is actually doing good things for my kisser. This is also a very pigmented color and a little lipstick goes a long way.

Tip: This color applied pretty orange-y to my lips, so I just used a berry colored lip linner over the whole lip and then applied the lipstick and the color turned out to be a perfect red for Spring. I often work with lipstick shades and liners to produce the exact color I’m looking for. Works like a charm.

Pantene Airspray Hairspray 2 Dot 1 oz (full size 7 oz)

This Pantene “airspray” might just have my favorite hairspray smell ever. It’s sweet and light and just makes me feel relaxed and happy. Yes, it’s a happy scent!  As for the spray. It is such a light mist. It provides a light and brushable hold, which I love when I’m wearing my hair curly. Not a crunchy curl in sight! Plus, this hairspray has no alcohol, which is so drying for hair.

Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport Ultra Light with SPF 30+ Sunscreen Lotion 2 oz (full size 8 oz)

Hawaiian Tropics is my favorite smelling sunscreen (I know, I know again with the smells) but there is just something about this lotion that makes me think of the beach and summer and every good part of previous vacations. And that’s a very good thing.

This suncreen goes on smooth and isn’t sticky. It feels like a light lotion, but still has SPF 30 protection. I also have to say that the packaging and size are really good with this sample. I want to throw it in my beach bag and go to the ocean, like right now!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I’m a happy camper with my first Target Beauty Box. I had a ton of fun testing these products and doing this unboxing. This $7 box has a lot more value than what I paid for it and it was a great experience as well.

Also, I almost forgot to mention, inside the box is a $3 online or in store coupon off your next $15 beauty purchase from Target. This is super cool because it’s valid through next month, and that means you can use it when purchasing your May Target beauty Box.

Tip: Target sells online beauty samples, so if you throw a few of those in your shopping cart to go with your box, you’ll save $3 and add extra samples to your Beauty Box order.
